Manufacturer of the Global Positioning System (GPS) device, TomTom, officially entering Indonesian market. This Amsterdam-based company provides GPS with navigation controls and sound instruction in the Indonesian language.
TomTom Vice President Asia Pacific Chris Kearney, TomTom optimistic to compete with other competitors, although TomTom too late entry into Indonesian market.
"Before entering Indonesian market, we have to prepare everything, including a strong research," said Chris at the launch of 5 TomTom GPS products in Jakarta, Tuesday (21/02/2012).
He claimed that TomTom GPS accuracy is very high because it can track up to the house number and name of the lane. Chris adds TomTom GPS will not miss even a turn.
The number of automobiles in Indonesia is growing rapidly, becoming one of the reasons TomTom get in Indonesia. "We believe car driver in Indonesia like comfortable and safe driving ways, such as a car driver who has enjoyed in other countries," he said.
On this occasion, TomTom also launched new products for Via and Go series. There are 3 types for Via series, Via 220 and 260, which has 4.3-inch screen, each priced at IDR 1.58 million and IDR 1.88 million. While Via 280, has a 5-inch screen and priced at IDR 2.18 million.
Via series, gives map service for all locations in Indonesia, and Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Macao.
While Go series targeting premium market, including type 2050 and 2050 World, each sold at IDR 3.18 million and IDR 3.78 million. Both have 5 inches screen. TomTom parties said Go series is the cleverest TomTom GPS model.
