(CNN) – After a tough week for Sarah Palin during which she was sharply criticized for her reaction to the Arizona shootings, the former Alaska governor will sit down with Fox New’s Sean Hannity on Monday – her first television interview since the uproar.
That Palin is breaking her media silence on Fox is of course not surprising – she is a paid contributor to the network and Hannity is likely to provide a sympathetic audience for the former vice presidential candidate after a week of criticisms from the left and right about her eight-minute video response to the events in Arizona.
But the move shows Palin isn’t paying heed to some Republicans who have publicly urged her to address her critics in less friendly settings. Just Wednesday, Republican Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey told the New York Times the former Alaska governor needs to show she can hold her own in unscripted settings if she is serious about running for president.
“I would contend to you that if Governor Palin never does any of those things, she’ll never be president, because people in America won’t countenance that. They just won’t,” he said.
